Young artists and engineers will explore the connection between potential and kinetic energy by using tubes, tape, and other household materials to create a marble “roller coaster,” inspired by Rube Goldberg machines. This program encourages experimentation and discovery. This open-ended program gives students opportunities to build confidence and develop perseverance within the creative problem solving process.
Build your own roller coaster! (for marbles!) Explore Rube Goldberg’s wacky cartoons of made-up machines. Learn about potential and kinetic energy, gravity, and friction as you build a marble roller coaster using household materials. Give a marble the ride of its life.
This is a HYBRID program. Supply kits will be picked up at the library before the virtual meeting with RIMOSA on Thursday, July 29th. Registration for this Friends of the Jamestown Program is required as space is limited. Please include the best email address to forward the Zoom link to.
