CANCELED: Let's Write a Ghost Story with Write RI

This program has been canceled.

For Teens in Grades 7-12!

Dive into the realm of ghosts, haunting, and horror in this generative workshop. Using writing prompts, you’ll write your own stories based on haunted houses, landscapes, characters and even time periods. Expect to come away with a start to your own ghost story.

Write Rhode Island is sending Erin Vachon to the library on Tuesday, October 29th, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. to lead the ghost story workshop. Erin Vachon is a writer and editor living in Rhode Island. A 2023 Recipient of the SmokeLong Fellowship for Emerging Writers and a 2023 Writer-in-Residence at Linden Place, their work appears in Black Warrior Review, SmokeLong Quarterly, DIAGRAM, Hayden’s Ferry Review, The Pinch, and Brevity, among others. Erin is a Submissions Editor for Smokelong Quarterly, the Multigenre Reviewer-at-Large for The Rumpus, and they read novels for Split/Lip Press

About Write Rhode Island:

Write Rhode Island guidelines for submission are simple: it must be a work of fiction by a RI student in grades 7-12 and incorporate Rhode Island in some way. Students can obtain guidelines from their teachers, librarians or the School One website. Stories can be submitted online from November 20 through midnight on December 8, 2024. Last year, Write Rhode Island received more than 180 submissions from 33 of Rhode Island’s cities and towns representing students attending public, private and parochial schools from across the Ocean State. Winners will receive a cash prize, have their work published or exhibited, and participate in a statewide reading.

Registration is required; space is limited to 15 students. Please register below.
