Living Literature presents Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption

Join us for a Readers’ Theater presentation of Bryan Stevenson’s Just Mercy, the 2017 selection for Reading Across Rhode Island.

Bryan Stevenson was a gifted young attorney when he founded the Equal Justice Initiative, a legal practice dedicated to defending the poor, wrongly condemned and those trapped in the furthest reaches of our criminal justice system.  This performance features Artistic Director, Barry Press, along with Jo-án Peralta and Marc Berry telling the unforgettable true story about the redeeming power of mercy.

Living Literature is a collective of Rhode Island based artists and educators who use readers’ theater style presentations to dramatize non-dramatic writing using only the author’s words, allowing the audience to experience the events and characters of the story in a unique way.  Since its inception in January of 1996, Living Literature has created over 100 presentations based on poems, stories, novels, plays, essays and oral histories.  They have performed in over 100 different venues throughout southern New England.  Living Literature is part of The EnRICHment Program of RI Council for the Humanities (RICH) which supports Reading Across Rhode Island. This is the eighth year Living Literature has supported Reading Across Rhode Island.
