January 28: Cowboy and Lady

Cowboy & Lady is an original duo project featuring Tyler-James Kelly of The Silks and his partner, Jess Powers.  This collaboration was inspired by their shared love of Country & Western music. Among their original works they regularly sprinkle in classics from Waylon Jennings, John Prine, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, and many others. Cowboy & Lady are recognized for their lively sets and beautiful vocal arrangements and harmonies. Tyler-James is a talented and accomplished guitar player with lightning-fast finger picking abilities and Jess Powers is a well-known songstress in the New England music scene. 


February 25: South County Rounders

The South County Rounders name has been well known to fans of acoustic folk and bluegrass music in Rhode Island, and all over southern New England since the nineteen eighties. The current four piece ensemble features the original duo, Phil Smith and Matt Bolles, plus Judy Bolles and Chris Heinzmann.

 

March 11:  Exiles (Irish Music)

The Exiles are a Rhode Island-based trio featuring three members of the band Pendragon who have performed together for almost 30 years. The Exiles perform dance tunes, songs, waltzes and airs and elaborate on the cultural and historical context of their music while projecting a relaxed and humorous stage presence. The Exiles feature Bob Drouin on fiddle, and banjo; Torrin Ryan on uillian pipes and whistle and Jay Gilbert on guitar. The band performs tunes from Ireland, Scotland, and French Canada and also perform original music written in those traditions. the cultural andThe Exiles are a Rhode Island-based trio featuring three members of the band Pendragon who have performed together for almost 30 years. The Exiles are pleased to announce that Barrington’s own Kevin Doyle will join this performance.


Kevin Doyle (dance/percussion) is a National Endowment for the Arts Heritage Fellow. He achieved this highest honor awarded to an American traditional artist, as a dancer devoted to old style Irish step dance and American tap dance.


 April 15: Slackwater String Band

Slackwater String Band is a folk music trio featuring Mike Fischman, Ed McGuirl and Tom Perrotti. The band plays an eclectic acoustic mix including originals, Old Time and Celtic tunes, Country Blues, and its own take on Jamaican music called AmeriMento. All three members play a variety of acoustic string instruments with a bit of concertina and tin whistle in the mix. Slackwater String Band is the house band of Common Fence Music.
